Mayor van Zanen opens WTC Utrecht

Earlier today the mayor of the Municipality of Utrecht, Jan van Zanen, officially opened the new WTC Utrecht located at Stadsplateau 2 in Utrecht. The opening included a festive ceremony in which the mayor of Utrecht together with Ronald van der Waals, fund manager CBRE Global Investors, and the new tenants, the architect MVSA Architects, builder BAM and various service providers in the building, performed the official opening ceremony.

WTC Utrecht is built on one of the most central locations in the Netherlands next to Utrecht Central Station. It is the first large office building in the Netherlands that soon will receive a WELL Building Standard certificate and will be awarded with a BREAAM-NL Excellent design certificate. The building comprises approx. 29,000 m2 office space divided over 19 floors offering both fixed and flexible office workspaces including facilities such as F&B, a manned reception, bicycle parking, courtesy bikes, a restaurant and a meeting centre on the first four floors. Already before the official opening, the office building is let for approximately 90% and the first tenants, including The Office Operators, PropertyEuro, Navigant, Hiemstra & De Vries, Ynformed, Fleet Complete and SiRM, have moved in. Facilities such as the Grand Café & Restaurant Metro City Kitchen, the meeting centre, the bicycle shed, and the company restaurant of Vermaat are also fully operational.

The number of tenants already contracted, proves that this building, on this location at this time, perfectly matches todays occupier needs in our city and region.”

90% leased

CBRE Global Investors has already signed leasing agreements with 22 tenants. Tenants in this modern, sustainable and contemporary office building include Aalberts Industries, Metro City Kitchen, Fleet Complete, Vermaat, SPAR, Hiemstra & De Vries, Ynformed, SiRM, PropertyEuro, Navigant, Syndesmo, & Morgen, Synchroon, Nationale Hypotheek Garantie, Hays, Nixxes Software, RNHB, Heroes Corp., The Office Operators, Van Diepen van der Kroef Advocaten, Vermaat en CBRE.

High-quality services

WTC Utrecht offers high-quality facilities that are accessible to both tenants and the public. On the ground floor and the first floor, a contemporary grand café called METRO City Kitchen of nearly 1,000 m2 has been opened. On the first floor there is a bicycle parking with space for about 900 bikes and where WTC Utrecht offers courtesy bikes. On the second floor a manned reception and a fully equipped Business & Conference Centre that is operated by The Office Operators. On the third floor, a stylish restaurant is being operated by Vermaat Catering. WTC Utrecht will also have its own Business Club accessible to all tenants.

Design
WTC Utrecht is an investment of the CBRE Dutch Office Fund, a non-listed fund managed by CBRE Global Investors. The construction of WTC Utrecht initiated on 29 June 2016. BAM realised the building that is designed by MVSA Architects. WTC Utrecht is realised in partnership with the municipality of Utrecht. Parties have joined forces to make the station area a meeting place for everyone who wants to travel, shop, live, work and relax in the dynamics of this city centre and in the heart of the Netherlands. WTC Utrecht was designed by a team of architects from MVSA Architects led by Roberto Meyer: "The central location of WTC Utrecht is reflected in its design. The location is a large flow of travellers around the building. To symbolize this dynamic, we have opted for rounded architecture, which gives the building an elegant and contemporary look. The result is an open, accessible and transparent building. The open glass facade offers plenty of room for natural daylight and gives a sense of freedom and openness. The sky is the limit, that applies both to the design and to its promising tenants." BAM – supported by AM RED – realised the design of MVSA Architects.
